An appliance rarely picks a convenient moment. A refrigerator that has drifted warm overnight, a washer that will not release the door, an oven that heats to nothing like the number on the dial: each of them rearranges the day around itself. We repair kitchen and laundry appliances in your home, across Long Beach and the beach cities either side of it, and we have been doing that from the same neighborhood since 1979.
The way we work is easy to describe. A technician tests the appliance first and explains what has happened in language you can repeat to somebody else. You are then given one price for the finished job. Nothing is taken apart, and nothing is ordered, until you have heard that price and agreed to it.

Nearly every job is finished where the appliance already stands. The vans carry the parts our own service records say give out most often, so the first visit is usually the only one.
Every repair carries thirty days warranty on our labor, written on the invoice, together with the manufacturer warranty on any part we install.
Testing comes before pricing. You are given a single price for the finished job, and the work only begins once you have said yes to it.
Johnnie's Appliances has been repairing home appliances along this coast for more than four decades, and the range of work has grown with the kitchens themselves. A morning can start with a top load washer in a Lakewood tract house that has stopped spinning halfway through a cycle. The same afternoon can end in Naples, at a refrigeration column set behind a cabinet panel, which has to be eased out of its joinery before anyone can take a single reading.
Both of those appointments start the same way. The technician asks what the appliance has been doing and for how long, reads whatever the machine has recorded about itself, and then meters the circuit that reading points at. Guesswork is expensive for you and embarrassing for us, so we would rather spend the first half hour testing than the next two hours changing parts in order of price.
You will be told when the technician is on the way, and the van arrives inside the window you were given. Shoe covers go on at the door, the appliance is pulled out carefully rather than dragged, and the floor underneath is protected before any work begins.
Once the testing is finished you are given a price for the whole job, parts and labor together. If we do not have the part with us, we will tell you what it is, what it costs and when it can be here, and the return visit is booked before we leave.
We service twenty-four manufacturers, and the list runs from the mainstream brands in most laundry rooms through to the built-in cooking and refrigeration found behind cabinet fronts in Belmont Shore and Naples. Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, GE, LG, Samsung and Frigidaire sit alongside Thermador, Wolf, Viking, Miele, Liebherr, Monogram, Dacor, DCS, La Cornue and U-Line.
Knowing the platform matters more than it sounds. Two dishwashers that look alike on a showroom floor can be built around entirely different pumps, and the test that settles one of them proves nothing about the other. Every brand we list has its own page here, with the appliance types we service for that brand and the problems we are called out to most often.
Our labor is warranted for thirty days from the day the work is finished, and any part we install carries the manufacturer warranty that came with it. Both are printed on the invoice you are handed rather than described on the phone.
If the same problem returns inside that window, ring the shop and we will come back at no charge. That promise is the reason we test properly in the first place: a repair that has to be done twice costs us far more than the half hour of care that would have prevented it.
The counter that eventually became this business opened in Downey in the late nineteen seventies, selling and servicing home appliances for families who lived within a few streets of it. The service side gradually became the whole of it, and today the work runs from Long Beach out to Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Lakewood and the neighborhoods in between.
What has not changed is who answers the phone. You are speaking to the shop, not to a call center paid to book jobs and pass them along. The technician who arrives is one of ours, the price you were quoted is the price on the invoice, and if we think an appliance is not worth repairing we will say so plainly and explain the arithmetic behind it.
Three steps, the same on every job, so you know what the visit involves before anyone knocks on the door.
Call the shop or book online and describe the behavior: the brand, the model number if the plate is reachable, and what happens when you run a cycle. The more of that we have in advance, the better the odds the right part is already on the van.
The van arrives inside your two hour window. The technician reads whatever the appliance has stored about itself, meters the circuit that points at, and then explains in ordinary language what has actually happened.
One price for the finished job, parts and labor together, given before anything is taken apart. Most repairs are completed on that same visit, with thirty days on our labor written onto the invoice.
Almost three quarters of the repairs we take on are finished during the first visit, because the vans are stocked from our own record of what actually gives out rather than from a generic parts list. Where a part has to be ordered, you will be told what it is and when it will arrive before the technician leaves your house.
Usually the same day if you call before the middle of the morning, and the next day at the latest. Every appointment is given a two hour arrival window, and you are told by phone or text when the technician is on the way.
Most in-home repairs land somewhere between $150 and $450 once the part and the labor are counted together. You are given one price for the finished job after the testing is done, so nothing is billed by the hour while somebody works.
No. A Saturday or a Sunday is priced exactly as a Wednesday, and there is no surcharge for an evening slot booked in advance. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at weekends.
Thirty days on our labor, plus whatever warranty the manufacturer gives the part we install. Both are printed on your invoice. If the same problem returns inside those thirty days, the return visit costs you nothing.
Twenty-four of them: Asko, Bertazzoni, Bosch, Dacor, DCS, Electrolux, Fisher and Paykel, Frigidaire, GE, JennAir, Kenmore, KitchenAid, La Cornue, LG, Liebherr, Maytag, Miele, Monogram, Samsung, Thermador, U-Line, Viking, Whirlpool and Wolf.
Yes, and in Naples and Belmont Shore it is a good share of the week. Refrigeration columns, integrated dishwashers, wine coolers and undercounter ice machines are ordinary work for us, including units that have to be drawn out of cabinetry made to measure.
We will give you the arithmetic rather than an opinion. As a general rule, once the repair would come to more than half the price of a comparable new machine and the appliance is already past two thirds of its expected life, replacing it is the better use of your money.
Somebody over eighteen needs to be there to let the technician in, to describe what the appliance has been doing and to approve the price before the work starts. After that you are welcome to get on with your day.
Twenty-four manufacturers serviced, mainstream and built-in alike. see the full list.
Nine towns and the neighborhoods inside them, each with a page of its own explaining what we tend to be called out for locally.
We proudly provide service to the areas of Long Beach, Naples, Belmont Shore, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Rossmoor, Signal Hill and the neighborhoods surrounding them.
Call the shop and speak to somebody who can book you in, or choose your own slot online and we will confirm the arrival window.
